I’m Just A Little Black Rain Cloud

Work is pretty much total poo right now but I *did* manage to amuse myself today by referring to an overly sun-kissed older lady as “Tangela Lansbury”.

My perfect job would be going to people’s houses and reading to their children before bedtime. My specialties are Goodnight Moon, Harry the Dirty Dog, and The Complete Tales & Poems of Winnie-the-Pooh (complete with fun voices for all of the characters). Pretty sure the only way out of my funk is to watch babies sleep, so please tell me this is a thing.

  • “Tangela Lansbury”.
I honestly just did a spit-take when I read that. Remind me to refrain from drinking while reading your blog.

  • You’ll get very tired of GOODNIGHT MOON if (and when) you have kids. I know this to be true. Beware of PAT THE BUNNY.

  • I need someone to read me WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE just to tide me over until the movie’s released.

And it’s all about THE GIVING TREE.

  • I’d pay for this. Do you do Eloise? Its eternal and Nanny doesn’t have nearly enough to say. I love the combandabrush andbowlfullofmush part of Goodnight Moon- I wish it was still in the rotation here.

  • OK. I’m hooked.

  • Watching babies sleep fixes everything. Really. It releases all sorts of relaxing hormones that an help you center yourself and reduce stress. Like when they bring puppies and kittens into hospitals as therapy for the patients.

  • If you ever find this job (good luck with that, it’s a great one), you have to put I’ll Love You Forever into the rotation. I still cry when I read it to my kids. My sister was the first one I read it to, and my copy of the book, (and my sister) just celebrated it’s 13th birthday.
