At work, the hours before the doors swing open and the customers invade are my favorite. My coworkers are fresh, not having been abused by demanding and unreasonable people just yet, the store is clean, and the soundtrack is the quiet hum of preparation.
One of my favorite things to do in the still of pre-opening is to treat my coworkers to my version of “It’s Oh So Quiet”. They can hardly contain their excitement when I shout, “YOU FALL IN LOVE! ZING! BOOM!” But I like to think my Björk impersonation is dead on and they just don’t know talent.
Someday, I’m gonna break these retail chains and become the superstar I know I can be. For now, just be glad you don’t have to work with me, as I’m also fond of the Annie soundtrack.

Do you follow up later in the day with your Celine Dion rendition of “It’s All Coming Back to Me”? That combo would be deadly.
